Chemical Process Engineering Intern

altM's Engineering team is responsible for converting the R&D team’s research into actionable engineering and manufacturing deliverables for production. The candidate understands how to best design for chemicals manufacturing, and will conceptualise and implement full-scale production systems.
Responsibilities:
- Support with engineering and scale-up works of new chemical technologies, including process modeling, mass/energy balances, and feasibility studies.
- Support with design and engineering of new equipment, such as reactors, piping systems, and pumps, using tools like AutoCAD, or Python for simulations.
- Participate in the commissioning of newly installed pilot plants, including equipment testing, troubleshooting, safety checks, and performance optimization.
- Conduct literature reviews, data analysis, and lab-scale experiments to support technology development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on documentation, HAZOP studies, and compliance with standards like ASME for pressure vessels and piping.
- Maintain detailed records, prepare reports, and present findings on project progress.
Requirements:
- Currently in the final year of a B.Tech/M.Tech in Chemical Engineering from a recognized university, or evidence of exceptional ability.
- Strong fundamentals in chemical process design, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat/mass transfer.
- Familiarity with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS), CAD tools, or programming (e.g., Python/MATLAB) is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with lab experiments, pilot plants, or internships in chemical/process engineering preferred.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, presentation – and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- This is an onsite role and requires physical presence at the production site
