The Production Planning and Control Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production planning, scheduling, and control activities to optimize manufacturing efficiency, meet customer demand, and ensure on-time delivery of products. This role involves coordinating with various departments, managing production schedules, monitoring inventory levels, and implementing strategies to improve production processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop production plans based on customer orders, sales forecasts, and inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with sales, marketing, and procurement teams to gather production requirements and determine manufacturing priorities.
  • Analyze production capacity, resource availability, and lead times to establish achievable production schedules.
  • Create detailed production schedules and allocate resources, equipment, and manpower to meet production targets.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to address delays, bottlenecks, or changes in demand.
  • Ensure adherence to production schedules and deadlines to meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to ensure adequate stock availability.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to optimize inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and reduce carrying costs.
  • Implement inventory control measures to prevent excess or obsolete inventory.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and productivity improvement in production operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement lean manufacturing principles, process automation, and efficiency initiatives.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of production issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, cycle times, and resource utilization.
  • Prepare regular reports and performance metrics to evaluate production efficiency, identify trends, and measure progress against targets.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management to support decision-making and strategic planning.
