  • Algorithm Development: Design and validate discrete-time control loops (Current/Voltage mode) for the DC-DC MPPT stage and DC-AC grid-tie inverter stage
  • Firmware Implementation: Deliver production-ready Embedded C firmware for the Hybrid Inverter, incorporating Field Oriented Control (FOC) for motor loads and robust PLL (Phase Locked Loop) for grid synchronisation
  • Performance Optimisation: Optimise control parameters to achieve Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and MPPT dynamic efficiency under varying solar irradiance.
  • Grid Compliance: Lead the firmware modifications required to pass grid interconnection certifications (UL 1741 SA / IEEE 1547), specifically testing for anti-islanding and Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT).
  • Protection Logic: Implement and verify high-speed software protection schemes (Over-current, Over-voltage, Desaturation detection) to ensure hardware safety during fault conditions.
  • Digital Control Theory: Strong foundation in Z-domain analysis, compensator design (PID, PR, Lead-Lag), and stability analysis (Bode/Nyquist) for power converters.
  • Embedded C Programming: Expert-level proficiency in C/C++ for bare-metal programming on Real-Time MCUs (specifically TI C2000).
  • Motor Control Expertise: Proven experience implementing FOC (Field Oriented Control), SVPWM (Space Vector PWM), and sensorless observers for PMSM or Induction Motors.
  • Grid-Tie Fundamentals: Deep understanding of grid synchronisation algorithms (SRF-PLL, SOGI-PLL), droop control, and active/reactive power control.
  • Model-Based Design: Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and PLECS for system modelling, control loop simulation, and auto-code generation.
  • MCU Peripherals: Hands-on experience configuring high-resolution PWM modules, ADCs (start-of-conversion triggering), and quadrature encoder interfaces (QEP).
