Pixxel is a space data company building a health monitor for our planet. We are doing that by deploying a constellation of some of the world's most advanced earth imaging satellites in lower earth orbit and an analytics platform (on ground) with tools that enable easy application of this data across a multitude of sectors. Our fully deployed constellation will be capable of beaming down daily imagery of any place on earth.

This role will contribute towards the development of Ground Segment Software that will be responsible for analysing, monitoring, controlling and coordinating activities of our satellite constellation. We are looking for a team player with experience in satellite flight dynamics, ideally in developing software tools for flight dynamics activities, including orbit determination, maneuver planning, and collision avoidance. Responsibilities:

1. Conceptualising and maintaining the overall architecture of Pixxel's Flight Dynamics System (FDS)
2. Developing and maintaining the codebase of the flight dynamics system
3. Defining and maintaining the control interfaces between other components of Pixxel's ground segment
4. Participation in the overall ground segment development, verification and validation activities
5. Participation in pre-launch and LEOP activities
6. Collaborate with mission and operations team to effectively understand, collate and translate requirements into design specifications
7. Creation of the necessary technical and API documentation

We expect you to have:

1. B.Tech / B.E / MS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Science or equivalent
2. Proficiency in satellite astrodynamics
3. Proficiency in one of the flight dynamics library like STK, GMAT, FreeFlyer or Orekit
4. Familiarity with satellite ground segment architecture and tools
5. Experience: 1+ years of relevant work experience (astrodynamics, orbit control, mission design)
   
6. Strong development skills in Python or Java
   
7. Ability to understand, break down, and solve complex problems independently
8. Good communications skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Good to Have:

1. Familiarity with satellite operations
2. Familiarity with software development tools such as version control (Git/GitHub), Jira is preferred
3. Knowledge or experience in any of the following would be a plus
   1. Code parallelisation
   2. Unit tests, CI
4. Knowledge of software engineering principles
5. Knowledge or experience around developing REST APIs
6. Knowledge or experience using SPICE toolkit
