About Pixxel

Pixxel is a space data company building a health monitor for our planet. We are deploying a constellation of some of the world’s most advanced earth imaging satellites in lower earth orbit and an analytics platform (on the ground) with tools that enable easy application of this data across many sectors. Our fully deployed hyperspectral imaging constellation will be capable of beaming down high-quality imagery of every place on Earth daily.

Job Overview:

Pixxel is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Hyperspectral Image Quality Assurance/Quality Control Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assuring the quality of hyperspectral images and ensuring that they meet the required standards. This role requires a strong understanding of the imaging process and workings of an optical imaging system. Successful candidate would need to have a thorough understanding of hyperspectral imaging, image processing, statistical analysis, and logical reasoning.

Overall, the Hyperspectral Image Quality Assurance/Quality Control Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring that hyperspectral imaging data are accurate, reliable, and of the highest quality. The ideal candidate will have a combination of technical expertise, analytical skills, and attention to detail, as well as strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Creation, curation and implementation of image quality standards for Pixxel’s hyperspectral data products at all levels.
  • Improve Pixxel’s existing quality assurance practices/control protocols/algorithms for satellite-based hyperspectral images and assess them for spectral, spatial, and temporal noise characteristics.
  • Conduct statistical analysis on hyperspectral image data to identify patterns and trends. Work with the imagery product manager to bring qualitative improvements to Pixxel’s image processing pipeline.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and ensure that image quality standards are met.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of quality assurance procedures and results.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in engineering, physics, mathematics or related field with a background in digital signal processing.
  • Strong technical background in remote sensing, image processing, image quality, and statistical analysis.
  • Expertise in signal processing, especially noise characterisation of image data, and proficiency in working with signal processing libraries on Python.
  • Experience with calibration and validation of optical imaging systems would be a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Insurance cover for you and your family, free access to mental health professionals, paid sick leave, and other benefits (vaccination drives, etc.).
