Job Description for Lab Assistant – Milk Quality Testing (BMC Level)
Job Title: Lab Assistant – Milk Quality Testing
Location: Bulk Milk Cooling (BMC) Center – Wanaparthy, Kosgi, Kalyandurg,
Papireddyguda, Mallareddyguda, Pamulapadu, Halbarga.
Role Objective: To ensure the quality and safety of milk at the BMC level by conducting quality checks,
maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Milk Quality Testing:
o Perform daily tests, including Fat, SNF, MBRT, adulteration, preservatives
and antibiotic checks.
o Maintain accuracy and consistency in quality assessments.
2. Data Management:
o Record milk quality parameters and testing results systematically.
o Prepare and submit reports to the BMC In charge as per requirements.
3. Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
o Operate and maintain testing equipment like lactometers, Ekomilk analyzers,
etc.
o Regularly calibrate tools to ensure accurate results.
4. Hygiene Standards:
o Ensure the lab area, equipment, and BMC are kept clean and sanitized.
o Adhere to best practices for milk handling and quality assurance.
5. Farmer Coordination:
o Interact with farmers to explain milk quality parameters.
o Provide feedback to farmers on improving milk quality and storage practices.
6. Compliance and SOP Adherence:
o Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for testing and storage.
o Comply with all regulatory and organizational guidelines for milk quality.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: Diploma in Dairy/Food Technology, B.Sc. in Chemistry is
preferred or any graduation.
Experience: Prior experience in milk testing or laboratory work preferred, but not
mandatory.
Technical Skills:
o Familiarity with milk testing techniques and equipment.
o Knowledge of dairy safety standards and protocols.
Skills and Attributes:
o Strong analytical and observational skills.
o Proficiency in maintaining documentation.
o Effective communication skills in the local language.
o Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Working Conditions:
o Environment: Work primarily at the BMC, managing milk from collection to
storage.
o Timings: Must be available during milk procurement hours.
Compensation: 15,000 - 18000 In-hand with Accommodation, ESI & PF Benefits
